Triple M Perth Breakfast launches early

Former Editor & Content Director

One of the many new Breakfast shows launching in 2021, Basil, Xav & Jenna, has launched ahead of schedule, with the team going to air this morning.

The new Triple M Perth Breakfast show had told the market it was starting on Monday, however last night the trio revealed on Instagram they were living “spontaneously” and would start today.

The show is the first Breakfast lineup for the new station, since Hit 92.9 was transformed into the Triple M brand late last year.

It features Perth Lord Mayor and former 6PR Breakfast co-host Basil Zempilas, alongside former Hit 92.9 co-host and AFL player Xavier Ellis, and assistant editor of The West Australian Jenna Clarke.

In the opening break just moments ago, the team emphasised their Perth credentials and flagged the program would be fun and local.

“We’re looking forward to getting to know you. We’re going to have a great time. We’re going to be very Perth. And if it’s happening here, you’re going to know about it,” Zempilas said.

You can listen to the first few moments of the show below.

Basil sounds fake like most politicians
I can see this rating 5 percentage.

@Brett – no he doesn’t mate. What a surprise – the first comment on here is having a crack at them. *eye-roll*
Basil is an experienced radio and TV broadcaster, and that’s what he sounds like. He’s obviously playing the role of anchor for the show as well, so as well as providing content, it’s his job to keep things moving. He’s polished, but I wouldn’t say fake. Give it a rest and let them find their feet as a team. I liked what I heard in this first break.
