Brisbane’s 97.3FM transitioning to the KIIS brand
The KIIS brand is coming to Brisbane with 97.3 FM in the process of rebranding to KIIS 97.3.
The move coincides with the addition of nearby Grant Broadcasting stations to ARN, including River 94.9 which has a similar format to 97.3.
ARN’s Chief Strategy & Connections Officer, Lauren Joyce has told Radio Today: “The station is transitioning to KIIS 97.3 as part of ARN’s Superbrand Strategy.
“97.3 is Brisbane’s #1 station and listeners will continue to hear all of the things they currently love about the station but now with a touch of vibrant KIIS energy.”
Former Nova breakfast personality Kip Wightman will join Robin and Terry on the station’s breakfast show starting next Monday 24 January.
97.3’s interim branding for the new breakfast show has the KIIS mouth logo in front of Brisbane’s iconic Story Bridge, but does not yet bear the word KIIS on it.
Note: the lead picture is a composite by Radio Today, no the official logo.
Hopefully they introduce KIIS into Adelaide as well.
How about playlist, music format. Is it going to be more CHR like Sydney and Melbourne?
Why not do Adelaide and Perth and be done with it. Sometimes ARN move like the public service.
…and next it’ll be Adelaide’s turn! Makes sense. Surprised it hasn’t happened before now!
@Brendan
I can’t imagine 96Fm Perth transition to KIIS….so different formats…
Mouth logo? More like a blow up doll
There was similar name used in Kenya. There is radio named Kiss Fm 91.5
So, no siprise
So if they also move to the KIIS playlist from Sydney and Melbourne, then Brisbane will have THREE out of four FM stations that are CHR/Hot AC.
GREAT!
What a joke.
Just leave River 949 as it is, it’s like, if you take 973 and MMM you get River.
River while not in any surveys, can be assumed to make up the bulk of the “other” in the last Toowoomba ratings as well as a large Ipswich listenership.
Interestingly,
@AJ – I doubt they will touch the playlists (much). SCA have finally proven (with MIX 94.5) that they can have stations in a network that have common programming elements, but don’t rely on the same playlists.
