The Edge 96.1 Sydney has a new Sunday night show hosted by Gemma Maddox called Hype On Demand.

Maddox is an announcer at Hit104.7 Canberra, and her new show on The Edge is a passion project that focusses on new music in Australia and around the world.

On the first episode, she caught up with ‘hot girl bummer’ hitmaker blackbear, who spoke about his new album, and working with Lauv.

“As a long time super fan of artists I wanted to create a show that brings fans behind the scenes of their favourite artists and the latest in pop culture,” Maddox tells Radio Today.

She plans to use the show to dive into the pop culture trends than drive popular music, including the influence of TikTok on trending songs.

Maddox explains that a love for The Edge’s music format spawned part of the idea, and led to her quickly securing the backing of content director Mike Etheridge.

“I love the music format on The Edge 96.1 and what the brand represents, I pitched it content director Mike Etheridge who has a similar vision,” she says.

“I’m so grateful, thanks to Mike and Canberra FM CD Rod Cuddihy for this opportunity!”

Maddox won an ACRA in 2019 for Best Music Presenter.

Catch up on the first show below, and tune in each Sunday at 7pm on The Edge 96.1.
