LiSTNR recruits The Motley Fool’s Scott Phillips to helm new finance podcast

LiSTNR has partnered with The Motley Fool’s Scott Phillips to launch The Good Oil with Scott Phillips, a new podcast that seeks to break down the basics of investing, economics and finance.

Phillips, who is already recognised as the host of the popular Motley Fool Money podcast, will interview a cast of business, property and tech identities for the new series, discussing how their industry works and how consumers can get the most out of investing in them.

Guests set to appear on the podcast’s first season include Kogan founder and CEO Ruslan Kogan, Market Economics managing director Stephen Koukoulas, and CoreLogic head of Australian research Eliza Owen.

The podcast aims to empower listeners to take control of their wealth and and begin building an investment portfolio of their own.

Phillips said the podcast will bus the myth that finance is too complex to be involved in.

“Managing your own money – saving, budgeting, investing, passing it on and giving it away – doesn’t have to be rocket science,” Phillips said of the new podcast.

“It takes a bit more time, patience and insight to be set up on your path to success and I’m excited to share what I have learned over the years with others who want to take control of their financial futures.”

Head of content for LiSTNR Original Podcasts, Jen Goggin, said she’s looking forward to the podcast’s success.

“With online banking and financial institutions shaking up the traditional banking system, e-commerce revolutionising the idea of what a business looks like, and fewer people carrying physical money than ever before, now feels like the perfect time to start a podcast that resets what we know about the world of finance and empowers us to be able to participate more actively in our own financial future.”
