Hot Tomato’s Sean ‘Flan’ Flanagan hangs up the mic
Hot Tomato‘s top-rating Breakfast show will lose Sean ‘Flan’ Flanagan at year’s end.
Flan has announced he is retiring, and will depart the Flan, Emily Jade & Christo show which rated #1 on the Gold Coast as of the most recent GfK Ratings Survey.
The show has rated #1 in every survey since Grant Broadcasters acquired the station at the back end of 2018.
Hot Tomato content director Brendon ‘Whippy’ Dangar confirmed the news to Radio Today, revealing that Flan has decided to look at new opportunities outside of radio.
“Flan has decided that he can no longer set the 4am alarm and will finish up with Hot Tomato on Friday Dec 13,” Dangar told Radio Today.
“He is looking at new challenges outside of radio and concentrating on his family and health.”
Dangar revealed that #1 Drive show host Paul ‘Galey’ Gale will replace Flan on Breakfast, with an announcement on Gale’s Drive replacement yet to come.
“Obviously we are very sad to see [Flan] leave the Hot Tomato family, but we are also super excited to bring Paul Gale one of the Gold Coast’s biggest breakfast radio personalities back to breakfast.”

Galey back on breakfast. This is a great story!
Excited for you Galey! Welcome back
OMG I’m gutted that very soon you won’t be in my lounge room while I’m getting my grandsons ready for school then relaxing with a well earned coffee…my weekday mornings will be sadly lacking without your beautiful voice, laughter, honesty, humour and wit… Not to mention the Dear Diary Segments Thank you so very much for the lovely memories… Wishing you all the very best in your future endeavours minus the Alarm Clock of course!! Excuse me while I go get my tissues…much love from one of your biggest fans…

Sad to see Flan leave but Hot Tomato are smart with succession plan. Well done and congratulations to Galey.
What a great talent Flan is. I have always admired his work and I love his passion for the Goldie. Good luck Flan.
Welcome back Galey – right where you belong! What a replacement.
Galey is the king of the Gold Coast. Well done sir.
So sad for listeners.
Flan was the reason I tuned. Such a funny clever man.
I will miss you Flan, your humour got me through some dark times, including Breast Cancer, listening to you in the mornings while at home recovering was the highlight of my day.
Good luck to you in future endeavours, your health & Family are the most important thing in life.
