iHeartPodcast Network announces multi-year podcast partnership with the NBA

iHeartMedia has announced a multi-year podcasting deal with the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The deal will see both companies produce more than 20 new podcast titles in partnership with one another, with all podcasts to be globally distributed across the iHeartMedia network.

The first podcast from the partnership will launch locally on ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network later this year, with further details about each series set to be revealed at a later date.

As part of the deal, iHeartMedia will be granted access to a pool of content from the NBA archives to tell the story of some of the league’s greatest on-field moments, with other podcasts focusing on player statistics, commentary, insider analysis and more.

“We know Australians love basketball – particularly after the win at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics last week,” ARN’s Head of Digital Audio, Corey Layton said.

“With this co-production between the NBA and iHeartRadio we are excited to offer Australian audiences 20+ new podcasts to enjoy and keep their passion for basketball alive. Australian brands will also have access to be part of the new content.”

David Denenberg, senior vice president of the NBA, said that the partnership would allow for the league to delve further into digital audio and reach a broader international basketball fanbase.

“We are excited to expand the league’s audio offerings to fans by teaming up with iHeartMedia to deliver NBA content and storytelling to the iHeartPodcast Network,” Denenberg said.

“We look forward to reaching more fans with content about our teams, players and history through this partnership.”

The iHeartPodcast Network Australia was launched by Australian Radio Network (ARN) at the start of 2020, and has since become one of the country’s foremost podcasting publishers.
