Nova Brisbane boss Jay Walkerden under internal investigation

NOVA Entertainment executive Jay Walkerden is under “internal investigation following an alleged incident”, reports The Courier-Mail.

Details of what unfolded during a trip to the US last week are unknown, but Walkerden’s email responder puts the almost decade-serving Brisbane general manager ‘on leave’.

The Courier-Mail says Walkerden, who is also the Nova 106.9 program director, is facing the internal review after an allegation involving one its top-rating Breakfast presenters.

Ash, Kip, Luttsy & Susie O’Neill ended 2019 with a 10.1% share of listening among People 10+, down -1% behind 97.3, Hit105 and Triple M.

Radio Today reached out to Nova on Friday after learning some details of the trip but did not receive a “no comment” response until Tuesday.

One source told the Brisbane tabloid: “There was an incident in San Francisco, and complaints were made.”

Radio Today also contacted Walkerden on Friday, but he has not responded.

In addition to his GM and programming responsibilities, the widely-respected radio boss is also head of podcasting for the network.

Prior to joining NE in 2011, Walkerden was programming chief at CMC Media, Global Media in the UK and began his career at Southern Cross Austereo where he spent about 14 years.

Nova were in California as guests of the San Francisco Travel Association, San Francisco International Airport and Visit California.
