Jodie Oddy to be back on radio next week

Former Editor & Content Director

Jodie Oddy will be heard on Adelaide radio again from Monday as she joins Nova 919’s Ben & Liam show for the week.

Oddy had for years been part of Adelaide’s #1 FM Breakfast show, Jodie & Soda, on Australian Radio Network’s (ARN) 102.3 however left abruptly at the end of last year.

She did not have the chance to farewell listeners, and ARN said it can’t comment on the reasons for her departure due to confidentiality.

From Monday, however, Oddy will be filling in for news journalist Taylee Jones while she is on leave.

Ben Latimer, head of programming at Nova 919, said the network is pleased it can give Oddy the chance to say goodbye to her legions of South Australian fans.

“With Taylee on holidays, we’re excited to be able to have someone of Jodie’s calibre to fill in,” he added. “Jodie is a talented broadcaster and we’re delighted to have her join the team as news anchor next week.”

Oddy said she is grateful for Nova reaching out and offering her the opportunity to get back on air.

“I have been really overwhelmed by the positive outpouring of love and support from listeners and other media organisations, especially my Channel 10 family,” she said of the past few months.

“I’ve had some time to take a breath and reconnect with the kids, so now is the time to explore other opportunities and projects I’ve been putting off for years. I am unashamedly a big fan of Ben & Liam’s. They work bloody hard and have produced some great content… But I haven’t read news for about 15 years so things could get interesting.”

ARN revealed late last year that AFLW star and Olympic basketball Silver medallist Erin Phillips would replace Oddy on Mix 102.3, forming the Erin Phillips & Soda For Breakfast show alongside Mark ‘Soda’ Soderstrom.

What a coup poor Phil and Duncan bet ARN didn’t expect this to happen, another Robin Bailey scenario. Jodie will be back at Mix in 12-24 months you watch. Losing Jodes will cost them listeners and revenue. Good work Nova but Jodie seems too old school for Nova and doesn’t really fit Ben and Liam’s show, she’s more for older mums and Cruise AM type of listeners. SAFM should get her on she should replace Bec or Carrie, so sick and tired of her in the afternoon session. She should stick to being a newsreader on TV.
