Kyle Sandilands puts rival shows to air on KIIS & slams 2DayFM, again

Kyle Sandilands used his KIIS 106.5 show this morning to trial his rival Breakfast shows and commentate on what they were putting to air.

The segment started after Sandilands slammed some of his producers’ ideas about they were set to air this morning on KIIS.

“Let’s go over and hear what the 2DayFM show’s doing. I’ve never heard it. Every journalist keeps asking me ‘Have you listened to Hughesy’s show?’ I say ‘Nup, why would I? Why would I listen to [that]? I’m on at the same time.'”

He also took the opportunity to have a dig at the rival program, which comes from his former employer, Southern Cross Austereo (SCA).

“It’s not on people’s radars… Everyone over at 2DayFM thinks Erin Molan – and we like her, she’s nice enough – they think she’s ‘Miss Sydney’. I don’t think that’s right,” he said.

“Over on 2DayFM every caller they put to air, I would imagine is fake… Listen, I’ve got spies there, and they say no one rings for their contests, and all their callers are internal. They’re all fake. How sad,” he said after listening to an audio grab of The Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed & Erin.

“Well there you go, that’s the highlights of the other show. You’re missing nothing,” he said.

Sandilands and co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson then flicked to Triple M, which was playing a song – “it’s hurting my ears,” said Henderson.

Over on 2GB, Ben Fordham was talking about Facebook’s overnight decision to stop Australian news publishers and consumers from sharing news on the platform.

Sandilands said Fordham sounded boring: “Come on bro, pick up your presentation skills”.

The duo didn’t last long on Hope 103.2, or Nova 96.9 either.

Henderson gave an interview to Mediaweek this week, saying you should never worry about what your competition is doing.

“Don’t listen to the competition, that’s always been my biggest thing, is forget about what everyone else is doing. It doesn’t matter what they’re doing. You can only do what you do and do the best you can. Once you start listening to somebody else that maybe has nabbed your #1 spot… second guessing is the enemy. Just be yourself, it’s all you can do,” she said.
