Maddie Jarosz to depart Ballarat’s Power FM Breakfast show

Former Editor & Content Director

Power FM in Ballarat is losing its second Breakfast host in as many months, with Maddie Jarosz deciding to move back to be closer to family in Canberra.

Radio Today understands she is rejoining the Canberra FM, which houses both Hit 104.7 and Mix 106.3.

Jarosz and co-host Josh Arthur came together in February to front the new show following Kris Kroemer’s departure and Julia ‘Jules’ Zass going on maternity leave.

Arthur, however, departed the program in September to instead pursue a career in real estate.

At the time, Radio Today understood Jarosz would remain on the show until Zass returned, and station owner Grant Broadcasters began recruiting for a replacement for Arthur.

Grant Broadcasters confirmed to Radio Today this morning that Jarosz had resigned. She was contracted until early next year, so it’s unclear whether timelines will line up with Zass’ return.

Jarosz has previously worked for Magic 93.1, but hails from Canberra.

Another one?

The resignations around the network are piling up… and they’re just the ones we know about publically.

Despite working a full-time job, I’ve spent a disproportionally huge chunk of my day looking at this promo shot for Josh and Maddie and trying to decipher what’s happening in it. At first I thought: “hmm, is Maddie pretending that she’s listening to something cool, but Josh (always the proverbial stirrer) is being real with the audience and pointing out that Maddie’s in fact listening to nothing”. As I bit down on my apricot muesli bar at around 1pm, another theory hit me: could it be that Josh is making the point that he’s such an outrageous broadcaster that he refuses to let Maddie listen in to their own show? “No” I thought as I threw my muesli bar’s packaging on the floor, “Josh is wearing a zany shirt, he’s not mean nor is he controlling”. Finally, it hit me. Was there only one pair of headphones available for the shoot and Josh – being a nice guy – figured it’d be best for Maddie to wear them and he can just use the headphone’s cable as a bit of a comedic ‘wet fish’ prop? “Yes – I’m 100% correct” I thought to myself as I rejected my mum’s phone call for the 8th time that hour. I’d be curious to know what others think about this promo shot … what’s going on there? What’s the story? Anyway – I’m going to call mum back now.

@Syd – the marketing director saw Hamish and Andy do the same post 16 years ago and thought it was genius.
