Radio royalty Jackie ‘O’ Henderson and Dave Hughes both received a negative COVID-19 test result on Monday after seven dancers on The Masked Singer returned positive on the weekend.

The KIIS FM star, and Hit Network drive host Hughes, are judges on Network Ten’s hit reality show, along with returning chief guesser Dannii Minogue and comedian Urzila Carlson.

This morning Henderson told her radio co-host Kyle Sandilands that the show’s executive producer, Stephen Tate, visited her dressing room on the weekend to explain the shutdown.

“Just before we went on air my result came through,” said Henderson. Sandilands then played back some audio from when exactly when she found out.

“I’m not a hypochondriac, but I woke up last night and I had a really sore throat… I’m hoping that everyone else is getting negative results too.”

The singing show relocated from Sydney to Melbourne this year, filming in a Docklands studio which is also home to Nine’s Millionaire Hot Seat with Triple M Melbourne star Eddie McGuire.

It is understood that about 200 people working on the big-budget production will be tested and quarantined. Hot Seat was also scheduled to record episodes this week at the same studios.

“The entire production team, including the masked singers, the host and panellists are now in self-isolation,” a Ten spokesperson said in a statement on Sunday.

“They are all being monitored closely and are in constant contact with medical authorities.”

The Masked Singer’s host, Osher Günsberg, said filming of the finale was about to begin when one of the dancers on the show stepped forward to share their symptoms.

“The pyrotechnics were loaded, everyone was in costume and we were ready to go,” Gunsberg said on The Project on Sunday night from his self-isolation quarters.

“We hit stop and everyone shut down. Nothing is as important as everyone’s safety. I hope we can set that as an example: if you’re not feeling great, it’s not worth it.’”

It is not yet known how Ten and the show’s producers Warner Bros plan to deliver the finale.
