Nova: A new home for Troy Ellis

Former Assistant Editor

NOVA Entertainment has pulled off a coup and has blind-sided ARN by signing the ever-popular Troy Ellis to its Nova and smoothfm on-air line up.

As the former anchor of Gold104.3 FM’s number one rating breakfast show (survey 8, 2017), Ellis is one of the industry’s most respected on-air personalities and joins NOVA Entertainment from March.

The signing excites Peter Clay, head of programming Nova 96.9 and smoothfm Network.

“Opportunities like these do not present themselves every day and I am thrilled to jump at the chance to add Troy to our exceptional line up of talented presenters.”

“One of my priorities has been to get the best people in the business that complement our culture at NOVA Entertainment and Troy is a great fit.”

Ellis will join the on-air line-up in a floating position from Monday 5 March and says he’s very much looking forward to the move.

“This is an amazing opportunity with NOVA Entertainment, a media company I’ve admired and respected for years.

“It’s a truly unique chance to work across both the hugely successful Nova and smoothfm networks and it’s not often things line up to make something like this possible, but they have and I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait to start on air.”

While Nova Entertainment celebrates the coup, it leaves ARN in a bit of a bind with sources suggesting Christian O’Connell’s arrival in Melbourne has been delayed until at least June due to contractual obligations in the UK.

With the network yet to announce his on-air partner, it’s believed ARN had been counting on Ellis remaining on Gold breakfast for the duration.

But with Ellis’ signing with Nova Entertainment, it leaves ARN having to rethink its immediate plans for breakfast.
