Radio Today Podcast: Adelaide hosts go missing, go rogue or get sacked

Former Editor & Content Director

What on Earth is going on down in Adelaide?

In this week’s episode of Radio Today Tonight, all ears are on the South Australian capital, where there is definitely something in the water.

Mix FM’s Breakfast show Erin & Soda for Breakfast failed to show up to work, FiveAA’s Jeremy Cordeaux got the sack, and Triple M’s Roo & Ditts landed on Media Watch after a racist skit.

Radio Today Tonight is back for 2021, coming to you each Thursday and mixing the biggest news of the week, along with a discussion of all the personalities, politics and pressures involved in the audio industry.

It will be jointly hosted by Radio Today editor Vivienne Kelly and publisher Jake Challenor.

I used to be a big fan of this podcast but I won’t be listening anymore.

On this episode, Vivienne Kelly makes the immature claim that we don’t need to give “climate deniers equal air time”

So she believes anyone who does not share her world view should be shut down?

It typical of the absolute intolerance of the left.

I’m out

    Hi Rob,

Sorry to hear you’re no longer a fan. You saying that I am have an “absolute intolerance” of alternative view points, while announcing your departure because of a different view point has satisfied me to the point where I don’t think I need dinner anymore though, so thank you. Absolutely delicious!

Beyond the much-needed laugh, it should be clarified that I didn’t suggest shutting anyone down. My point was that ‘fairness’ in reporting on complex issues isn’t always as simple as ‘50% voice to this view’, and an equal ‘50% voice to the opposing view’. That’s how fringe/ incorrect/ damaging views can be given a disproportionate share of voice, simply because everyone’s trying to prove how balanced they are. We can’t give everyone and everything a balanced share of voice on every issue.

Thank you for announcing your departure though. It’s been noted.
    Vivienne

I already loved Vivienne on the podcasts but the sass in the comments section is just an absolute delight. Watch the door on the way out, Rob.

Vivienne, please just give us the latest radio news without all the woke politics. That would be great

Danny Lakey rates 2.7 % on Triple M, why bother even putting him on air. Just play music would rate better.

CRA should take back Jeremy Cordeaux‘S Hall of Fame Award. What a disgrace.
Joan, we demand you take action here, otherwise you are letting down every single woman in radio down.

Hey Vivienne, just thought I’d let you know I’m in! Not because of climate change chat, but because of someone here having an opinion and not being afraid to voice it. Radio Today has been soooo boring and arse licking to every group cd in the past, always sat on the fence and didn’t want to upset anyone. Keep it coming.

I really like Vivienne, both here and at Mumbrella. I do agree that from time to time the wokeness could be tempered.

I am SOOOO glad my role doesn’t include a comments section so that any muppet can give me a running commentary of my job every day completely unsolicited.
