Radio Today’s new ranker graphics coming your way for Survey 8 tomorrow

Radio Today will tomorrow launch a new way of looking at the ratings surveys.

You will still get the usual raw data as it is released, but we will also bring you a new moving graphic format so that you can see the ups and downs of each station over time.

Our data journalism visualisations can help you clearly track trends at a glance.

For example, we know that the Sydney breakfast timeslot has been heavily affected by the pandemic. It’s not news that when lockdowns and virus spread were more severe, people wanted more information on covid and went to talk stations, but last summer, when covid was less of a threat, music breakfast shows improved.

The data visualisation below illustrates the trend clearly. As the bar graphs move, look at the lines below that indicate the survey and show all the stations and watch the breakfast shows move up and down as they change position in each survey.

You can pause the chart at any time to get a better look by using the pause button on the bottom left side of the chart.

All the data for all cities will be available tomorrow morning from 9:30am.

The charts are compiled by Radioinfo and Radio Today’s talented data journalist Wayne Stamm, using GfK survey data and referencing standard CRA shift timeslots.
