Former Editor & Content Director

The Townsville region has a new market leader in the radio ratings.

Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) Hit103.1 took out the #1 position in today’s results, with 20.4% of people saying they listen to the station the most.

This was only a slight increase from November 2019’s result of 20.3%, however Triple M 102.3 fell back 4.8 points, from 21.7% to 16.9%, losing its top spot and placing it in second.

Star 106.3 was in third with 15.3%, up 0.7 points.

There was also a shuffle in Breakfast. Hit’s Cliffo & Gabi, fronted by Guy Clifton and Gabi Elgood, climbed 1 point to 21.0%putting it ahead of both Triple M’s Pricey For Breakfast, and Star’s Crystal & Brady.

Pricey For Breakfast was down 3.8 points from 22.1% to 18.3%, while Crystal & Brady remained steady on 14.7%. Co-host Brady Ellis recently announced his departure from the show.

Power100’s Wildy had 10.2%, down from last survey’s 10.9%.

All stations except Triple M and ABC North Queensland had gains in cumulative audience.

The largest gain was Grant Broadcasters’ Star 106.3, which was up 7,800 to 60,200, however it was once again Hit which was on top overall.

Hit’s cumulative audience climbed 6,500 to 71,900, overtaking SCA stablemate Triple M, which fell 8,100 t 62,200.

Shout out to the Star team who kept a level show and even saw an increase in 10+ against all pre-existing shows in the market, including Hit’s ‘Super Show’ with a State budget.
Amazing effort!
