Triple M taps Dave Ferrier for new regional and provincial Nights show
Triple M has recruited former Brisbane Big Breakfast anchor Dave Ferrier to host a new regional and provincial Nights show
Making its debut tonight, The Greatest with Dave Ferrier will be broadcast across 38 regional stations from 7pm – 10pm on weeknights, with Ferrier hosting the show out of Brisbane’s Triple M studio.
It replaces the national Danny Lakey Show, which will continue to broadcast into Triple M’s metro markets.
Southern Cross Austereo’s Blair Woodcock said that the network was excited to launch a Nights show for regional listeners, noting Ferrier’s natural abilities as a host for the program.
“The Greatest will be just that; the greatest mix of music with a heap of other interactive content,” Woodcock said.
“We are excited to have a live nightly show for our regional markets and Dave Ferrier is a superb talent who will unite our rock listeners across the country with immersive nightly entertainment.”
Ferrier, who has formerly worked as an anchor on Hit’s Carrie & Tommy Drive show and hosted Mix 94.5’s The Rush Hour in Perth, also noted his excitement about the new gig.
“I can’t wait to play great music and connect with every corner of this glorious continent,” Ferrier said.
“From the cane fields of Cairns to the beaches of Busselton, from the homes of Hobart to the… what rhymes with Newcastle? Ah well, you get the point.”
Long-time SCA staffer, Jamie Angel, will replace Ferrier as anchor of Triple M Breakfast as well as taking on creative director duties.
Sent to Perth then Molloy goes national?
Sent to Brisbane then Jamie moves into his role?
Of all the people SCA has mucked around, they’ve really made it hard for Dave they’ve they? He’s a really great announcer.
Hopefully they let him make a go of this new show.
No talent left in regional pipeline by the looks. What about Bodger?
Australian radio is lucky to have Dave Ferrier. Hope you love the new gig, Dave.
So many regional SCA people out of work so you get someone from a metro market to host instead………..sure, makes sense
Ferrier is a legend, psyched
One of the best people in the industry to work with. Good stuff, Dave.
Radio. Gets you where you live.
Pretty rough go for the dozens of regional announcers sacked last year, to not get a crack at presenting to the markets they once did.
Radio seems to only exist if you are “in” with a metro station.
