Baggs packed, Simon’s left Nova

Staff Writer

Less than two months into his national late night shift on Nova, Radio Today can confirm that Simon Baggs is leaving the network.

Sources also tell us he’s “pursuing opportunities overseas”, although any details remain a mystery – at least for the moment.

Simon Baggs has been contacted for comment.

Baggs joined Nova late last year on weekends in Sydney before moving into the late evening timeslot; he was on-air between 10pm and 1am. Baggs also pulled a weekend breakfast shift across on the network.

“I’ve landed a gig at Nova at the best time with the brand refresh. The vibe in the station is AMAZING,” he told Radio Today at the time of his appointment. “I’m excited to be part of the Nova Network as the year unfolds.”

Baggs replaced former Home & Away star Jason ‘Finn’ Smith who left Nova “to focus on his acting career”.

Prior to joining Nova, Baggs was part of the original KIIS 106.5 Sydney line-up that went to #1, pulling a six-hour shift on-air.

Towards the end of 2015, he was tapped on the shoulder to anchor and launch KIIS 101.1’s new breakfast show in Melbourne with Matt Tilley and Jane Hall. By 2016, while still anchoring breaky, it saw a line-up change with Meshel Laurie joining the team.

An announcement on Baggs’ replacement is expected shortly.

Great talent. Too good to be caged in Nova late nights. Should be in a solid breakfast lineup.
