The Last Breakfast: Mick Molloy’s final brekkie shift ahead of new drive show

Staff Writer

After more than five years in the time slot, Mick Molloy finished his run as part of Eddie McGuire’s Triple M Melbourne Hot Breakfast team this morning.

Molloy joined Triple M’s Hot Breakfast in 2011 and has had a successful run topping the Melbourne ratings in the competitive FM breakfast shift, however, this week’s ratings saw the show dropping to an unusually low 6th place.

Mick first appeared on radio as part of The D-Generation Breakfast Show in the early 90’s on Triple M and went on to be part of the groundbreaking national drive show Martin Molloy, with radio royalty Tony Martin, in the late 90’s on SCA’s Today Network (now Hit). The show is still considered to be one of radio’s finest and most successful.

He is returning to the drive time slot ‘ his natural habitat ‘ once again in a new show to be co-hosted with Jane Kennedy. The new drive show commences on the Triple M Network 4pm to 6pm later this month.

The new show and the addition of Will Anderson to Breakfast will surely help the station overall after it slipped into 8th position 10+ in ratings this week.

Mick said his farewells on Triple M breakfast this morning and the station played some highlights from his time on-air on breakfast.
