REVEALED: hit92.9 taps Ryan Jon and Xavier Ellis to join Heidi for breakfast

Staff Writer

Last week hit92.9 teased everyone from Joel Creasey to Agro as possible replacements for Will and Woody who head to KIIS FM drive next year, but now the duo joining Heidi Anderson for breakfast in 2018 has been confirmed.

WA local boy Ryan Jon along with former AFL player Xavier Ellis will be joining the breakfast team from January 8.

Most recently, Xavier has been heard on hit92.9 and is known for his hard but honest guest interviews, while Ryan is keeping it in the SCA family, departing hit 104.7 Canberra and heading west.

Speaking to Radio Today, Jon explained that the move is a dream come true.

“When you move out to the country you dream of one day getting that metro breakfast gig but it’s just that – a dream.”

“In four years I’ve gone from the street team through to Muswellbrook, Mildura, Toowoomba, Bunbury, Canberra and now into Perth breakfast. I still can’t believe it’s a reality.”

“For me hit929 Breakfast is pretty much the dream gig – hopefully we create a great show that’ll last 10 years.”

He also spoke highly of his newly-named co-hosts Heidi and Xavier.

“When I started in Bunbury, Heidi had been gone for a few years but people still talked about the incredible content she created. I’ve heard lots of unbelievable stuff from Heidi and it’ll be a privilege to share a studio and be part of her show.”

“The greatest day of my life was when Hawthorn beat Geelong in the 2008 AFL Grand Final. Xavier Ellis was one of the best on that day I owe him big time.”

“I’ve snuck over to Perth a bunch of times over the last few months and every time I’ve caught up with X ‘for a quick beer’ it’s lasted for hours. We get along great this is going to be fun with the three of us.”

hit92.9 Content Director Amanda Lee has promised something truly unique for Perth.

“Heidi, Xavier and Ryan will be fun, entertaining, creative and real, and we can’t wait for everyone to hear their instant chemistry,” she added.

“Bringing fresh and engaging content to their listeners is their priority.”

With the recently announced Perth moves this one looks to be strongest of all of them. Those SCA guys are making some very good talent moves lately. ARN don’t have the feel or market knowledge over here in Perth. No one deserves this break more than Ryan Jon one of the hardest working radio peeps in Australia.
Congratulations Ryan. 92.9 won’t miss a beat with this one. Good to see him back in WA. Nova have some real competition now a radio show made up of real radio people not comedians.

I hear 104.7 announced Tanya is ” leaving ” the station. I hope that she gets a good breakfast role somewhere out of this too and doesn’t end up on the radio scrap heap or on late nights or weekends or something.

Poor Tanya typical it’s always the women who get left behind in this industry.

Oh Georgina. As Tanya herself mentioned in the comments above, she has something that will be announced soon.

It’s worth noting how many Metro breakfast shows on The Hit Network are now lead by female talent, as well as one of their drive shows and their night show.

Not everything is a gender issue **smh**.

So you saying Hamish and Andy are female Huh ? Last time I looked they were male.
And oh Carrie is the lead not Tommy I thought they were equals?
And the night show you mentioned if you are referring to Ash well she hasn’t rated well yet. Smallsy wins nights beats Ash and Thinkergirls. So your point is ?,
Yes 2day breakfast has a female lead but um its not rating at all.
Kyle, H&A, Eddie, Hughesy, Smallzy, Fitzy and Wippa, Marty, Ash, Kip, Lutsy etc the winners tend to be men. Even FiFi has not one but three male co hosts. Sorry.

Westward with the wagons!! When I close my eyes and think of my favorite radio stars… it’s their ethic which I find shapes them as a likable or listenable character. If he gets any more hard working he’ll be in Durban before June, I think he’s natural born talents deserve that and so much more… perhaps Uruguay ?
