‘I’m delighted to be back’: Jones to OB from bushfire-affected area

Sydney’s highest-rating Breakfast broadcaster returns on the airwaves tomorrow.

Alan Jones’ first two shows of the new decade will broadcast from Club Catalina in Batemans Bay, one of the many parts of the east coast to experience the full devastation of bushfires.

Broadcasting on 2GB Sydney and 4BC Brisbane on Tuesday and Wednesday, the heart of the fire-ravaged region, Jones will talk to residents about how they are coping.

He also plans to shine a light on rebuilding these shattered communities.

“The homelessness, destruction and debris I have seen on the NSW South Coast is beyond any comprehension,” said Jones.

“No one has been able to fully capture the devastation that remains now that the fires have gone. There are amazing stories of bravery and survival and we’ll be bringing them all to our listeners this week.”

Before his summer break, Jones took is show west for two outside broadcasts to raise awareness of the impact of the drought on regional NSW.

He broadcast from Bourke and Dubbo in November following a long campaign to get politicians to provide greater support for rural Australians. Now he’s at it again.

“I’m delighted to be back,” said Jones. “I’m aware that there are massive issues facing Australians in difficulty.

“My listeners will be expecting me to help provide some immediate answers. As Ash Barty would say, ‘We will be giving it a crack’.”
