‘We’ve blown the budget’: The boss reacts to Ben & Liam limo purchase

It’s easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission.

Nova 91.9 Adelaide breakfast duo Ben Harvey and Liam Stapelton already had a reputation for messing with their former radio bosses, and now it’s Ben Latimer’s turn.

Ben & Liam pulled the ultimate budget blowout prank on their programming chief this morning, when they called Latimer with news of a limousine purchase. No kidding.

The black 1980s Ford Fairlane limo, paid for – allegedly – on the company credit card, came at a heavily discounted cost of $4,800. Surprisingly, Latimer was not impressed.

Nova Adelaide launched one of the only new metro breakfast shows this year.

While new shows traditionally lose share in their first survey, Ben & Liam’s strong debut on breakfast secured 9.9% share of listening (-0.2).

The network’s programming and marketing chief, Paul Jackson, told Radio Today that he was pleased with the ratings result.
