Bodge’s master apprentice gets start in radio

There all sorts of reasons why we fell into radio.

Sometimes it’s a life-long dream realised. Sometimes it’s an accidental opportunity. Sometimes it’s someone you admire who makes that opportunity become a reality.

For Bailey Corrigan it was a bloke called Jason Bodger from Hit Mid North Coast, who inspired him to take his first steps on the radio career path.

At just 15 years of age, Bailey has landed his first gig in radio.

He’ll be doing Friday afternoons at 104.7 2BOB FM in the Manning Valle and then a music show on Great Lakes FM in Tuncurry.

The long-time admirer of Bodge was invited by Breakfast co-host Krysti Dixon to surprise his mentor with the news.

15 Year Old Bailey Scores First Radio Gig

15 year old Bailey has been coming in to visit Bodge for the last few years. This morning, he surprised Bodge with the news that he has scored his first community radio gigs. Needless to say, Bodge was over the moon!

For Bodge, it was gratifying to be able to help someone get their break in radio.

“In truth, I feel a bit of responsibility for it all. He’s had a love of radio for a long time, but I think when I threw him in the deep end, that was when he decided he wanted to look into it more.

“I’ll be air-checking him and assisting with his content where I can, to help him develop a little quicker.

“As for inspiring him… I have no idea why he looks up to me, but it’s given me an opportunity to offer him the kind of support I wish I’d had when I was younger in the industry.”
