Bush: SCA was “irresistible”

The new chairman at Southern Cross Austereo, Peter Bush, has said that that he anticipates changes at the company under his stewardship.

Southern Cross Austereo has had a tough couple of years and Bush told News Corp that he is excited about the challenges ahead:

“When I first approached about this role it was an opportunity to get back into the sector There’s just so much going on in this industry at the moment; it’s transform­ational, particularly around technology.

A business like Southern Cross is interestingly placed in all of this to be the master of its own destiny, providing it takes the reins. It was quite an irresistible kind of opportunity for me to be honest. It ticked all my boxes as they say”.

Historically, under Max Moore-Wilton’s chairmanship, SCA were vocal for the relaxation of media ownership regulations, however in a clear difference from that approach Bush has commented:

“Waiting for the media laws to change is not a strategy for any business. You’ve got to be either managing your own destiny or putting yourself into a good position when and if the laws actually change.”
