Grant Broadcasters has appointed Chris Ivers as its new regional content director for Queensland and the Northern Territory. He starts July 6, based in the Maroochydore office.

Ivers joins from Zoo Business Media, where he was the content, creative and marketing director.

Ivers has had extensive experience in the radio sector, including senior programming roles in Australia with both Southern Cross Austereo and Australian Radio Network.

he also held an international stint as a consultant for Communicorp in Ireland and Europe.

“I felt spoiled for choice with the incredible selection of extremely talented people that wanted to join Grant Broadcasters,” newly appointed group CD Ryan Rathbone said.

“Chris was a stand out for this role due to his genuine passion for local content and his depth of on-ground experience and knowledge of all key markets…

It was only last December when the independent radio network appointed Rathbone regional content director for Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Now less than five months later, he’s been appointed group content director for network.

Ivers said he’d had opportunities to return to radio, but this role was the first that got him excited.

“I can’t wait to reconnect with the markets and work with the very talented teams across QLD & NT to continue building on the amazing work they’ve already started,” Ivers said.

Seriously a great operator who hasn’t had the true company to shine with in. Is an absolute great asset to the Grant broadcasting team. Chris’s knowledge of both markets is huge and I’m sure he’s team will love he passion and honesty!

As good as Hot Tomato Drive is with Moyra and Baggs … I seriously reckon Grant Broadcasters shot themselves in the foot by not renewing Mal Lees.
Mal was a rock for that station and is sorely missed .
From an avid listener from way back incl Club Veg MMM Sydney …

Miss Mal Lees. Show is very flat without him. Not that I don’t like Moyra and Baggs but …… what have you done?

Switched off hot tomato, Mal Lees was the hub of the show.
