Great Scott, are we going back?

Here’s a real Back to The Future moment, on this day October 21 a bunch of regional markets flicked the switch BACK ON with streaming… quietly.

Grant Broadcasters in a number of key markets like Wollongong, Geelong, Ipswich, Townsville and the Sunshine Coast are on, along with ACE Radio for a couple of spots. For SCA, the only new one back with streaming appears to be Townsville with 4TO and HOT FM.

At the start of 2014 the commercial radio industry drew a line in the sand, as all regional markets across the country pulled the pin on their internet streams. Until today, Canberra, the Gold Coast and Newcastle were the only markets that streamed their programs.

The PPCA, representing Australian record companies, and CRA, representing commercial radio headed back to the Copyright Tribunal in June this year. More than three months down the track there is no word yet if a resolution has been reached between the two parties
