Hit South Queensland’s Hamish Carter calls time on radio career

Hamish Carter has called time on his innings at Hit South Queensland, after a 20-year stint at the station.

He’d just returned from a break over the Christmas period, and came up with a fun way of telling listeners he’d be wrapping things up.

Carter was joined by Marianne and her Microphone, who delivers musical messages, to help him with the announce.

“I’ve booked you to do something for me because I can’t do it myself,” he told listeners.

Marianne then sung a musical tribute. “I’ve pulled the pin on doing Breakfast radio and radio in general,” Carter confirmed.

“At the beginning of every year I ask myself if I can get through another year of Breakfast radio, and this year I asked this question and unfortunately. the answer was no.

“I finish up at the end of this month. I’m moving in, and I’ll tell you where I’m moving on to in the coming days.

“At the end of this week I chalk up 20 years of working at this radio station… it’s time to get some new people in.”

A 20 year run in radio is an achievement, but 20 years at one station is amazing.

Well done Hamish.

Good luck with whatever the future brings.
