The Australian Radio Network (ARN) will broadcast the iHeartRadio Music Awards from 10am (AEST) on Friday.

The awards are taking place in the US and are celebrating the return of live music.

Australian audiences can listen to the broadcast on ARN’s iHeartRadio platform as well as via highlights across the KIIS network.

The event is being hosted by Usher with performances from The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars and Doja Cat. There will also be appearances from Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, LL Cool J, twenty one pilots and more.

Plus, Elton John will receive the 2021 iHeartRadio Icon Award which will be introduced by Chris Martin and Lil Nas X. John will also be honoured via a tribute performance by Brandi Carlile, Demi Lovato and H.E.R.

The awards recognise the most-played artists and songs on iHeartRadio stations and the iHeartRadio app throughout 2020.

iHeartRadio’s local content director, Brett ‘Nozz’ Nossiter, said the return of the awards is a big moment.

“This is a huge deal for the entertainment industry,” he said. “Seeing the return of the world’s most-loved artists to a live audience event represents the resilience of the music industry and pent-up demand for premium live music.”
