‘Jamie’s exceptional’: Dave Cameron on how Angel will lift Triple M Brisbane
Former content director and one-time 2DayFM Breakfast host Jamie Angel will be a “fantastic addition” to Triple M in Brisbane, according to SCA’s chief content officer, Dave Cameron.
Cameron made the remarks off the back of yesterday’s survey numbers, which, with the exception of Brisbane and Adelaide, served up poor results for the Triple M Network.
Melbourne’s share was down 0.5 points to 4.7%, while Sydney climbed just 0.1 to 5.0%. Perth was down 0.8 points to a 7.1% share, and while Adelaide fared better on 9.2%, it still faced a decline of 0.9.
Brisbane was the leader for the Triple M brand, pulling in 9.9% (down 0.3).
Its Breakfast show, The Big Breakfast with Marto & Margaux outperformed this, with an 11.0% share, only behind Nova’s Ash, Kip & Luttsy with Susie O’Neill, which boasted 11.8%.
Cameron said Angel, who will be creative director for the station and act as anchor for the Breakfast show, will only strengthen this offering further.
“Triple M Brisbane is really strong as it is, with Marto & Margaux holding a really great Breakfast share,” he said. “So I think Jamie, the expert that he is, I think he’ll only strengthen what is already a really strong result for a really strong show with Marto & Margaux.
“Jamie’s exceptional, and I think anyone in our company – and anyone probably outside of our company that has worked with Jamie – will know how great at creative he is. And I think he’ll be a fantastic addition to that show.”
As well as his time behind the mic on 2DayFM, Angel has been content director for Melbourne’s Fox FM, as well as 2DayFM and Triple M in Sydney.
He and his wife, Ellie Angel-Mobbs, are set to move to Brisbane once borders allow it. Angel-Mobbs will take on the assistant content director role at the Hit Network’s B105.
