Jarrod Walsh has recorded a raw and emotional message following his redundancy at NOVA Entertainment.

He was one of several Workday announcers who lost their jobs this week, with Katie Mattin, Jack Tree and Rosie Panetta also either to be redeployed or depart the business.

Leaving a message on Twitter, he said he “wanted to share my feelings as they are still really raw and if you’ve gone through this, we can share the journey.”

In the video itself, he appears visibly emotional and begins by reflecting back on when he started at Nova in July of 2004.

“I was part of the start of Nova 919 in Adelaide, a new radio station, a new culture… that was 16 years ago. In September 2020, I have had my last day.

“I was one of a handful of good people who was made redundant from the radio station.

“I was preparing myself mentally… but nothing can prepare you to hear those words.”

He speaks of the emotions he has felt including fear, anxiety, relief, hands shaking and more.

Many in the industry have already responded to Walsh’s message, with well-wishers including Nova 96.9’s Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald.

When this happened to me Jarrod was the first person to reach out. One of the most talented but also kindest in the biz. Triple M would be silly not to reach out straight away.
