Molloy’s executive producer Jay Mueller resigns for role with the AFL
The executive producer of Triple M’s Drive show, Jay Mueller, has finished up with the program.
Mueller’s radio career has included being a senior producer on Triple M Melbourne’s since-retired Breakfast show The Hot Breakfast with Eddie McGuire. He did this role for eight years, and in 2017 moved across to 1116 SEN.
He’s also worked with JAMTV and overseen the Bad Producer podcast production house.
He rejoined SCA’s Triple M in 2019 as EP of the Kennedy Molloy Drive show.
Earlier this year, co-host Jane Kennedy didn’t re-sign with the network, transforming the show into simply Molloy.
And now Mueller is on the move, taking up the position of managing editor with the AFL.
Molloy said Mueller fully deserved the role.
“You gotta do what you gotta do. Take the options as they come. And that seems like a great opportunity and a great job. And you’ll be very good at it, no doubt. Not so good for us, as you’re irreplaceable here,” he said on Mueller’s final program.
“We’ve had fun. And you’re a great friend. And I know we’ll work together again at some stage,” he added.
Radio Today understands senior producer Whitney Plowman is now filling the role.
In the most recent radio ratings, Triple M had a 6.4% share in Drive in Sydney, 5.2% in Melbourne, 10.7% in Brisbane, 7.3% in Adelaide and 7.0% in Perth.
Give the AFL gig to an Aussie who knows and loves the game. Not an American?!
@Mia I don’t see the issue with it. If anything, it shows that anything is possible if you’re from overseas and love AFL
Really Mia?
Jay has produced Triple M Breakfast, 3AW, The AFL Footy Show, Wheatley on SEN and doesn’t know anything about AFL?
Try finding someone he’s worked with who doesn’t love him!
@Mia
While we’re at it, get rid of Christian O’Connell because he’s not Australian either and does nothing for that stat-
Oh wait.
Good luck Jay!
