Studio 10 stars read Kyle’s obituary on air, while he’s still alive

Staff Writer

KIIS FM has imagined what it would be like if its top-earning show co-host Kyle Sandilands died.

The on-air stunt comes as the team continued a joke about Sandilands’ death after he failed to show up to work one morning. His phone was off and he was uncontactable, with a staff member sent to retrieve him from his house.

He was, in fact, alive, however the station this morning called on Studio 10’s Sarah Harris and Tristan McManus to broadcast a pre-emptive obituary.

“Devastating news coming out of the radio industry, king of the microphone Kyle Sandilands has taken his last breath,” Harris said, before cutting to 10’s veteran entertainment reporter, Angela Bishop.

“He was a true legend of Australian radio,” Bishop said, intercut with snippets of Sandilands on air.

“He was known for controversy, but the broadcaster also had a warm heart.”

The package said 49-year-old Sandilands had left his vast fortune to Intern Pete.

Co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson said the segment was too real and became emotional on-air.

Can anyone explain to me what is “entertaining” about this stunt?

This could be a real wake up for young Kyle, over weight + smoker + stressful job = anxiety, sleepiness night’s and sickness.
