Mark Johnson to replace Daniel Brewer as content director at GOLD Central Victoria

Former Editor & Content Director
Gold Central Victoria, Grant Broadcasters

Grant Broadcasters’ GOLD network in Central Victoria will soon have a new content director.

Current CD Daniel Brewer is moving to Queensland’s Bundaberg to take over 4BU Breakfast as Mark Hamel steps down for health reasons.

Brewer’s start date at 4BU is currently unclear, however, due to COVID restrictions, and Hamel will remain on board until his successor arrives.

Brewer’s impending move created a vacancy at GOLD, which will be filled by Mark Johnson, currently the content director at 7HO-FM in Hobart. Johnson is also a former program director at SEN.

Johnson can now be closer to his family, and Grant Broadcasters said the hunt for a replacement for him in Hobart is currently underway.

A Grant Broadcasters spokesperson paid tribute to Hamel and said he would be missed both internally and externally.

Note: This article originally detailed the career history of the wrong Mark Johnson. As it turns out, 7-HO in Hobart has two Mark Johnsons, and the wrong one was photographed and cited in this article. Radio Today apologises to both Marks for the mix up.

Hey guys, if you’re talking about Mark Johnson, the hobart PD, i think you’re getting your Mark Johnsons mixed up.

    Josh,

You are 100% correct, and this is slightly embarrassing, but also mildly amusing. I spoke to the Hobart team today about the fact there are TWO Mark Johnsons in their ranks, and apologised for the mix up.

They were in good spirits about it.

    Thank you for flagging,
    Viv
