Meshel Laurie broadcasting ‘from her closet’ for new radio gig

Staff Writer

Meshel Laurie’s new gig on Grant Broadcasters’ Wave FM beams out to the Illawarra region in New South Wales.

The comedian and broadcaster, however, remains in her hometown of Melbourne as she undertakes the role.

So whilst co-hosts Damien Leith and Adam Straney broadcast from regional NSW, Laurie is stuck in her walk-in wardrobe in Melbourne.

This prompted the trio to make a number of “in the closet” and “coming out of the closet” jokes during the show’s first broadcast yesterday.

This week has also seen Leith and Straney playing a ‘Getting To Know You’ segment with Laurie, which has thus far covered her relationship with her twin children and foster cats, amongst other topics.

You’d think given all her podcast work she’d have a half-decent studio in her house…

How did The Cameron’s even approve this? I thought they were all about being local? Just sounds like a high profile grab to try and finally get No.1 in the region again which they haven’t had since 2001
