The Briefing podcast celebrates first birthday

Staff Writer

SCA’s daily news podcast, The Briefing, turned one this week.

The podcast launched on April 20 last year, as Australia grappled with COVID lockdowns, working from home and uncertainty around the future.

The first episode dealt with the COVID Safe app the Federal Government was pushing the population to download.

Since then, the LiSTNR production, helmed by Tom Tilley, has covered the live performance scene (‘Should you get a refund on your concert ticket?’), international relationships (‘Is Australia the chewing gum on China’s shoe?’), Donald Trump and the US Election, the Royal family, and the JobKeeper and JobSeeker changes.

Each podcast episode brings listeners the key headlines of the day, as well as analysis and a deep-dive topic.

Tilley said SCA took a chance on the podcast last year in the middle of lockdown chaos, and audience growth has since been solid.

The podcast also features Annika Smethurst, Jan Fran and Jamila Rizvi.
