Uber driver wins KIIS the Car

Love was in the air on KIIS101.1’s Matt & Meshel breakfast show last week as 10 finalists battled it out to win the network’s KIIS the Car on Chapel in Melbourne.

Part-time Uber driver Travis McDonnell from Windsor was eventually crowned the victor after locking lips with a Honda Jazz on busy Chapel Street for two-and-a-half hours.

“I just really wanted to give that car a kiss, so I came down here, and then two and a half hours later I won it!,” McDonnell joked about his victory.

“…It was really hard, I had no feeling in my fingers and I was going to give up five minutes later, but luckily I stayed the distance.”

With thousands of dollars worth of prizes being thrown at the contestants courtesy of Chapel Street retailers, the stakes were raised when Matt & Meshel told the lovestruck participants that if there were no clear winner by 9am then the car would be handed over to a caller.

It was a matter of risking it for the contestants, who could back out at any time and claim a bunch of prizes including a $1000 Priceline voucher, an expensive West Elm Sofa, or even a date with Chapel Street’s most eligible Bachelor Alex.

McDonnell still hasn’t decided whether he will use the car for work, or donate it to his Mum.
