2CH dumps Trevor Sinclair & Indira Naidoo from Breakfast

Staff Writer

2CH Breakfast team Trevor Sinclaire and Indira Naidoo are the latest casualties of radio’s pre-Christmas game of musical chairs.

The pair have presented the show since April, 2018, but the station’s general manager Cherie Romaro has confirmed they won’t return to Breakfast in 2020.

As MediaWeek points out, the show quietly disappeared from the 2CH after the pair went on summer break last week.

“Due to the current media economic climate a business restructure was required,” Romaro said.

“Our breakfast team was a large team for an AM music format and we have made some changes.

She revealed that Sinclair will remain at the station, but Naidoo won’t return.

“Trevor Sinclair will return in the new year in a different role as will Kayley Harris. Dave Gibson is going on stage with the wonderfully successful show Senior Moments, and Indira has many projects on the go. We will announce our new line-up in the new year.”

Romaro was appointed 2CH general manager in September of 2018, and unveiled the station’s new Classic Hits format in February this year.

A prudent commercial decision on behalf of the GM and owners. In the last ASX report for Oceania 2CH lost around $1.8 million in the last financial year.

“Our breakfast team was a large team for an AM music format”

Gee, don’t tell 4KQ who have a 3 person breakfast team!

While they’re at it, 2CH needs to actually take a look at what a successful AM music format looks like – just copy the 4KQ playlist!!!

So they had 2 full time and 2 part time hosts, low raters , thast a lot of money right there, go back to one guy with a strong witty personality, good music, fun info = winner , well they couldnt go any worse?

AJ….there is no WSFM in Brisbane. 4KQ is the ONLY Classic Hits option in that city. 4KQ’s ratings may be ok, but the station is not making a great profit, despite what many people might think when looking at the ratings. 85% of its share of listening is generated by 55+…..not a particularly attractive demographic to a lot of advertisers. Most want 25-54’s.
2CH faces a similar problem.

Well done 2ch. Wait until the show really clicked with listeners and then dump it. Did you really expect AM radio to make a profit – especially as most of the advertisers were funeral homes, funeral plans and plumbers . I like the music but will now look around for an alternative.

This is a real shame as I thoroughly enjoyed the shift, what I wanted to hear was a refreshed playlist but alas. Could someone whisper in the managements ear ‘Lite and Easy’which can hold a younger demo plus the older listeners as well, say 35-65?

Farewell and thanks

Thank heaven for these changes. They are long overdue.
Bring back an announcer with something intelligent to say rather than the inane drivel we’ve endured from Indira and the childish giggling from Kayleigh.
And advertise something other than funerals and retirement homes. So depressing!
And make sure Tim Webster stays. He is a breathe of fresh air.

Good to hear Tim Webster giving Red Cross a well deserved bagging. Why not go one step further and advocate a Royal Commission into ALL charities. Many so called charities are just a great income source for their high flying executives.

I think it’s time that 2ch had a serious overhaul, boring music repeated each and everyday, boring presenters, how many times a week do we hear Cold Chisels flame trees? The same Barry white songs, everyday?Repetitive songs day in day out, looks like your playlist has shrunk yet again,I’ve been a listener for over 40yrs and I enjoyed hearing the big band music, songs from the 50’s etc alas sadly no more, your 60’s and 70’s lunch breaks are yawn material how about you let your listeners send in there requests maybe then we’ll get some Oomph into the lunch breaks instead of the same old same old stuff everyday,Sorry 2ch you seriously need to step it up and play fresh music songs we don’t hear that often instead of getting flogged with the same crap everyday, once a great station that’s now sinking.

I don’t even waste my time with broadcast radio anymore. It’s all State Owned and Controlled National PR Drivel. I don’t need to be soaked in other people’s opinions and music choice. I create my own play lists and 100% avoid all news bullitens. Think Good Morning Vietnam!! Same deal!!
